Picking the right keywords:
We rarely want to target a single keyword.
Put yourself in the shoes of the type of visitor you want to attract. Make a list of keywords or phrases that you feel your prospective clients are likely to search. This requires you to separate yourself from your product, service or web site and think like your typical client who might be trying to find you, but knows nothing about your web site.
1. Concept Keywords: This is the product or service that you are selling; e.g. "real estate" try not to be too broad.
2. Brand Keywords: If you offer well known products or services, then include brand names when applicable (e.g. "REMAX")
3. Phrases: Many people will likely use multiple word phrases to find you. Make a list of 2-3 word phrases that people are likely to search for. Keep your really important keywords chained together (e.g. "lakefront property")
4. Bad spelling can be good: Search engines don't have spell checkers, so if there are some known spelling mistakes or typos please include them.
5. Location, Location, Location: Please provide as many location specific keywords as possible (e.g. "West Vancouver BC")
